The Beginning of Greatness

Tau Kappa Phi, Inc. began with the founding of Kappa Psi Kappa Fraternity, Inc. on August 17, 2001 in Tallahassee, Florida.  From there, the founders of Kappa Psi Kappa formed two more organizations, Alpha Psi Kappa Fraternity, Inc and Phi Nu Kappa Sorority, Inc.

These organizations, which are lovingly called the “twins”, were formed on the campus of Florida State University on February 20, 2002.

On March 28, 2002, these three organizations bonded together to form The Kappa Family, an assembly of organizations that work as separate entities but one family.

The Kappa Family were given their Greek letters on August 13, 2002. With Tau Kappa Phi, Inc. now a Greek lettered organization, a Grand Chapter was made to serve all its members.

Familial growth continued June 18, 2012 with the addition of Alpha Omega Kappa Fraternity, Inc. and on July 18, 2014 when Kappa Iota Sigma Sorority, Inc. was founded. With these two final organizations added, Tau Kappa Phi, Inc. was complete.
